At first I was a bit disappointed that the creators of my all-time favorite hentai fighting game, Metal and Lace, ditched many of its most exciting aspects when they released this second installation. I could no longer customize and upgrade my mech. No longer make myself rich. No longer discover hidden robots. No longer converse with the hottest (and funniest) babes inside a sleazy broken-down bar. Worst of all, since I am no longer used to playing fighting games on my computer keyboard, I thought I had to buy a game pad to satisfy the console-gaming freak in me. Random button mashing is definitely out of the question because I’ve never done that to my consoles in my nearly 2 decades of playing—not even during my Atari days or even my Game N Watch days—and I sure as heck won’t be doing it to my own computer.

Getting used to the controls took a while, but it was well worth it. Metal and Lace 2 may have lost many of the interactive features that made the first M&L truly unforgettable, but it definitely made an impact in terms of meeting up with player dexterity. The first M&L was very difficult to control, as if everything is in slow motion. It could not keep up with the speed of your fingers. This is no longer the case with M&L2. In fact, M&L2 is very much like a combination of the best of old school and new school Street Fighter in many ways.

Avid fighting gamers have missed the diversity of characters in old school Street Fighter. The moves are simplistic, but the combos that you can do with the simple moves can assure a player that you absolutely must use both your brains and quick reflexes at the same time. Not all techniques can work with every opponent, so it’s wise to keep a trick or two up your sleeve. That’s what Metal and Lace 2 is.

The power gauge that allows one player to be able to use “super” moves, and the extended HP bar, smack of new school. This also goes for the hit gauge that counts onscreen every time part of your combo gets delivered successfully. This is simply amazing for a game that was released in the mid 90s. Ah yes, the must-see mega-detailed ultra-hentai shots of fighters Mimi, J. Mantis, Daigo, Blue Dragon, Ming Ming, Lucifer, and Caviar are definitely new school. With much-improved artwork and an ecchi CG gallery that you can visit, which can be further enhanced after discovering secret characters, how can you go wrong?
