Where damsels are always distressed…
Poor pretty damsel in distress, envied by wicked sophisticated woman, gets saved by the knight in (literally) shining armor from boding evil. The plot is very simple, as we can see, but Idol of Darkness pulls it off by concentrating on the romantic aspect of this h-anime.This one has a distinctly shoujo feel to it. The power that beats the bad guy stems from l.o.v.e. Goodness knows this isn’t the first time I’ve seen an anime guy power up and suddenly become invincible in the name of love. And this isn’t the first time I’ve seen stories about a couple who are basically fighting the rest of the world because their relationship isn’t meant to be. The only thing lacking perhaps is a spiel about friendship, hope, and courage and you have got yourself another Fushigi Yuugi cum SailorMoon in the making.
There’s also a treat for S&M fans, mild though it is. In this case, the master is a female whose erogenous zone is obviously her toe. The rest of the hentai scenes are okay, with just enough details to satisfy an insatiable pervert. Nothing too violent or puke-inducing.
The artwork and animation are pretty, and the colors are typical of a shoujo anime. You’ll notice that this show is very…pink. And vibrant. The sounds are also very shoujo-esque. You’ll hear a lot of bubblegum pop in the background. This isn’t a complaint, though. After all, Idol of Darkness is a cute enough title to be both entertaining and relaxing. Nice to watch on a nice, sunny, horny day.
