Untitled Review
I must be one of those people who found themselves intrigued with Maya. I simply do not understand how she does it—destroying lives, cities, machines… And all without lifting a vicious or vengeful finger! At first, I didn’t even see how she could be seductive ’cause Maya isn’t always THAT pretty. After completing the entire series, I realized that Maya is everybody’s Galatea, every man’s idea of a perfect woman. She a female of many forms, existing in different planes of time, but living in one single concept. To RPGamers, Maya could be likened to Xenogears’ Miang—the goddess that awakens in the child of destiny.
Maya is everything: an innocent villager meant to destroy cities; a loving android designed solely for men’s pleasure; a beauty that disguises her femininity under a knight’s armor; an unwilling slave to a treacherous enchantress; and a maid training in the art of public “performances”. Whatever her form is, Maya is sure to leave a trail of tragic memories behind.
A note for collectors: this is a must buy. The art and animation are just short of being perfect. Hopeless romantics might also find themselves falling in love with some of the characters. Oh, and before I forget! Imma Youjo also has some yaoi (gay) elements.
