Goodness! I had been looking for info about this game for quite some time now and I finally found it through Mr. Google’s help. Metal and Lace was the very first hentai game I ever played, back when I was still in high school. Okay, that was ages ago, when MS-DOS was still the popular operating system. I learned recently that during its time, M&L created such a controversy that it was almost banned in Canada. I bet those people who prohibited its release would die of apoplexy if they knew M&L would be a proponent in paving the way for more graphically explicit adult video games.

It’s hard for me to enjoy the newer H games because I kept comparing them to my experience with M&L. It was like Street Fighter, Xenogears, and Hentai Anime Poker combined. While other adult video games these days are considered no-brainers, I remember M&L had always kept me up my toes. As I recall, my favorite mecha was Anna. She was probably the ugliest among my collection of well-designed robot fighting machines, but I maximized the use of her only 2 special moves: the Circular Kick and the Belly Bang. Why, if it weren’t for these, I wouldn’t have been able to successfully undress my lovely opponents. I’m happy to say that they are still very pretty even in Y2K standards.

The game itself looks harmless. You can go upgrade your mecha, buy items, discover secretly hidden robots, make yourself rich, and compete in tournaments. I accidentally discovered its perverted nature when I was looking at one of the posters at the bar, where my opponents were being featured. Of course I saw they were all fully dressed at first. On my next viewing, following a series of victorious battles, I noticed that the fighters I had beaten had taken off some articles of clothing. Then it hit me: they remove more as your level goes higher. It was quite an experience, especially for the young and impressionable Catholic high school girl I was back then. Needless to say, it still ranks as my favorite H game of all time.

I’m proud to state that I had no access to cheat codes or walkthroughs during those days because I had no internet connection yet. Unfortunately, M&L used to be distributed in floppy disc format so running into it again in a moment of luck is highly unlikely.
