Seeing Mashitaka’s earliest works is like a trip back to the 90s, when I had just begun dabbling in Photoshop. Except, I don’t think I’ll ever have one-fourth the talent that this guy has. Anyway, to begin viewing the contents of the CD, open your Windows Explorer or your Run command from the Start Menu, and double click (or select) the file Start.htm. This will open up a web page on your browser that will ask you first if you can legally view the files or not.

Once you enter the main page, you are given a list of galleries. There are 7:

  • Minty Angel - I noticed that they’re all dressed in Playboy Bunny (or Cat) costumes that range from sweet to S&M-esque.
  • Breast Milk 1 & 2 - Yup, it’s all about mammary fluids as well as flying semen.
  • Service 1 & 2 - As the titles suggest, these two have the conventional stuff that men dream some women would do to them. These feature blow jobs, tit-fucking, or simply just girls with dildos posing for your personal viewing satisfaction.
  • Saturn Collection - At first I wondered what this could contain. I did a double-take when I entered it. Is this gallery about Sailor Saturn? The girl in various seductive poses sure looked like it. ‘Course the gallery’s title should have said it all.
  • Sketch Works - My favorite gallery. There’s something about Mashitaka’s hand-colored art that makes me think of words like “air”, “light” and “sky”. Very nice.

After viewing the pictures, you may want to click on other options like JAST USA’s catalogue or their website link. Or, you may want to check out Mashitaka’s interview. The question and answer portion is pretty short, but it’s quite interesting. He talks about how he started, his preferred tools, his style and his favorite artists. One must consider, however, that this is an old CG collection—we’re talking 90s here—and his tools back then are already outdated now. What I like best are his tips for aspiring artists. They’re really inspirational.

Creamy Angel Volume 1 is composed mainly of fan art or doujin works, some of which are based on existing characters from anime and videogame titles like Saint Tail, Street Fighter, Urusei Yatsura and a lot more. Many of his "models" are original and they aren’t less appealing than the girls you’ve already known on TV.

Most of these were inked digitally and while the artwork is beautifully reminiscent of the classic 80s and 90s—some resembling the works of known hentai artists like U-jin and Hiroyuki Utatane, as well as the renowned mangaka Rumiko Takahashi—the coloring on some of the images look primitive. Perhaps it’s because these were done in the early days of digital ink and painting? Nonetheless, you’ll see how his digital coloring improves as you peruse every gallery. The drawings’ workmanship, of course, remains constant.

This entry has a rating of 4New Definition of Sex Fiend

Author: Hentai with his Head on Fire | Date: 12.6.2001 | Category: Spunky Knight, Manga Hentai

Holy cow! I’ve never seen so much flying liquid! Cum, cream, juice, whatever you want to call it, it’s all over the place in this h-manga. Phaia seems to excrete her fair share too. In one issue she cums so hard she lactates. Is that normal? Am I not pleasing my woman enough?

Oops… get my sex life out of this. Anyway, our adventerous Phaia seems to find sex in all the right and wrong places. She’s even mastered the ability to have sex in the middle of combat. However her partner… er, victim… rarely survives the encounter.

Phaia is interesting on the eyes. Very stacked but has the appropriate pudge that goes with it and I applaud Yohei for it. The art is pretty good and the storyline is just enough to keep the sex in line. The dialogue overall is fairly humorous and it’s a well put together series.

This entry has a rating of 4.5Guilty indulgence…

Author: bluetentacle | Date: 1.7.2008 | Category: Spunky Knight, Manga Hentai

For me, Spunky Knight was one of those guilty pleasures in manga I loved to indulge in. The art is unique and well detailed while lacking in continuity errors (save for may be one frame in one issue) and the characters, though badly short lived compared to the heroine and her pet dragon are all very well detailed to the point where their skin actually looks soft and warm to the touch.

I think the sole aspect I didn’t like about Spunky Knight however was that it took one issue to sacrifice the main story line for the sake of introducing us to a new character and a unique and surprisingly innovative sexual encounter.

By doing so it allowed the series to fall into the bog standard pain in the butt fatal misogyny that interrupts the sex scenes I’ve forever hated about manga and anime in general, especially when this all happened to my only favorite female character in the entire damn series. It really sucked for me because the build up for the issue was well scripted and as I started reading the dialogue actually started sympathizing with the one-time heroine of issue 5; had they just left the final frame of the last page out and left the ending completely open-ended, I wouldn’t be complaining.

Now I know the series has a very anarchic sense of sexual humor where death and sex sort of intertwine at random moments and for the most part it still manages to be mildly funny until around the fifth issue then the irony and subtle humor inspired nothing but hatred and repulsion because it’s difficult to find sickening cliches of a particular genre funny especially when a series like Spunky Knight successfully avoided them for a long enough period of time.

Despite that nit-pick though, I can’t help but recommend Spunky Knight because the sex scenes are so well drawn and unique that it’s hard not to like it.

This entry has a rating of 5I’m high on “FAKE”

Author: skysenshi | Date: 17.1.2002 | Category: FAKE, Manga Hentai

I must admit, this is my very first complete manga—and it’s a shonen-ai, to boot! I absolutely fell in love with this manga so much that I avoided work (and my boss’ calls) just so I can spend the entire day reading volumes 2-7. That’s how high I am when it comes to FAKE. All logic, caution, and whatever objectivity I try to muster in this opinion just dwindle away to a mass of sighs that I seem to be producing on an hourly basis.

Four days after finishing volume 7, I still am not myself. I kept re-reading favorite parts of just about all the volumes every night before I go to sleep, particularly pages 148-158 of the 7th book (he he). During the day, I couldn’t concentrate on meetings and conferences, my thoughts lost in fantasy. I almost wish I were born male. Male and gay.

So what makes FAKE so fabulous that I just can’t stop thinking about it? Well, for one, it was also the first shonen-ai manga that was introduced to me by an online friend named Stella in 1997. Back then, what I can see were only scans off her own copies. It was only late last year that I decided to buy my own set, inspired by its overly short anime OVA that I had rented recently. I spent $60 for the entire set, but it was just worth it.

This is all thanks to Sanami Matoh, the ultra-talented author, who knows just how to weave an erotic cop story filled with comedy and romance. I’ve never been a fan of action films, but FAKE’s characters are so alive that you just can’t help but adore them. Two love angles make up the entire series. One is the Carol-Bikky pairing and the other is the Dee-Ryo tandem. Dee Latener and Ryo McLean are the main characters—police officers working for the 27th District of the New York Police Department. Oh and yes, I forgot to mention that they’re also a gay couple. What’s good about these two is that they break all sorts of stereotype associated with gay people. For instance, Dee may be brash and macho, but he’s in fact the mushier half. Ryo is the “softer” half, but he finds it difficult to express his feelings, especially when it comes to Dee. Humor arises when Ryo’s seriously bishounen countenance gets flustered by Dee’s not-too-subtle sexual advances.

Those who are not into boy-love scenarios, on the other hand, can appreciate the Carol-Bikky love angle. Bikky is a golden-haired African American boy who turns to acts of waywardness as a way of rebelling towards a society that seemed to turn against him. Cal, on the other hand, is a street-smart kid who has the same naughty tendencies for (mis)adventures. Though Cal is three years older than Bikky, this doesn’t stop her from loving him…and eventually sealing this promise of love on her 18th birthday (^_-).

Other characters that add more charm to FAKE are Berkeley Rose, who not only holds a high ranking post at the NYPD but also has a rather keen interest in Ryo; JJ, the second best sharp-shooter in the department, who has the worst crush on Dee; Ras and Rai, the teenaged couple who are friends with Cal and Bikky; and Diana, the naughty FBI agent who can’t seem to stop bestowing a little complication upon Dee and Ryo’s relationship from time to time. Diana plays a very big role in the manga, as she will be the key to Dee and Ryo’s consummation of a long unrequited desire.

Once in a while, Sanami Matoh would add extra comic strips near the end of a book, and these little strips would be written in English. I find them extraordinarily entertaining, as the characters’ English resemble that of Noodle-chan’s (Otaku Fridge’s resident icon). A sample conversation would go:

Dee: He is fast asleep
Dee: I try to kiss
Ryo: …What?
Bikky: (enters scene and stretches Dee’s mouth, then runs away laughing)
Dee: Bikky!
Ryo: Oh…surprised… (doki, doki, doki—heart beating)

I noticed that the acts aren’t necessarily in chronological order. While the plot thickens in the middle of the series, some of the acts seem out of place. Like for example, in volume 4 act 12, Bikky and Cal “celebrate” Cal’s 18th birthday. After this act, they become children again. This persists in other volumes, too, but it’s not too much of a bother, since a break from all the action can sometimes be needed.

All in all, I would highly recommend FAKE to anyone who would be willing to listen and to anyone who is open-minded enough to enjoy a good dose of comedy and action. I think shounen-lovers (male and female alike) who are looking for something new would also love this. Well, before I start sighing again, I must say, “Try this. You definitely won’t regret it!”

This entry has a rating of 4.5The best of so many worlds…

Author: skysenshi | Date: 3.2.2002 | Category: Hot Tails, Manga Hentai

This series is by far the most utterly hilarious h-manga I’ve ever read! I especially enjoyed issue number 10, when a certain little “creature” got mad and bit something that was intruding on his domain (figuratively speaking, of course). Gads! What imagination! Hot Tails consist of a bunch of wacky sex-crazed people, each with a different story to tell. So far there are amazons, doctors, students, stalkers, a Santa Clause (yep, you read me right! And he’s right smack in the middle of a desert too!), a human reindeer, good-looking demons… Oh, were we supposed to talk about the level of perversions? Sorry, I thought we were talking about the characters’ professions. ^_-

This is an absolute hentai-fest for those who feel they have to relieve stress through one way or another. They have a queer idea of what “special” means. It usually pertains to something extra. So if they tell you that there’s something special about this particular character, prepare to be introduced to an additional body part that could make the word “three-way” take on a different meaning. There are also rather graphic interludes between major stories and these shorts don’t really have any particular plot in them. Just a good deal of wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am scenarios that don’t really make sense—or aren’t supposed to make sense. Incest, lesbian love, hermaphrodite love, and many other gadget fascination syndromes are sprinkled throughout all 10 issues. And since they love reunions so much, wherein characters from past issues meet up somewhere between volumes 1 and 10, a grand reunion ensues at the end of the series. This time, in Hot Tails Special Edition, you get to meet at least 2 characters from every book that has been released in one big orgy!

A few questions will tickle your fantasy as you peruse through the comic books. For instance:

  1. If you had an identical twin who feels exactly what you feel, wouldn’t it be interesting if the bond were so powerful that you feel horny whenever she does too? So if you want to feel like humiliating your sis, you can always… Hmmm… How come we don’t all have this ability?
  2. I have a question, though… if two hermaphrodites have sex, which parts of their bodies do you think is experiencing the most pleasure? I mean, they have two genitals and all….

Well, Hot Tails isn’t really as thought provoking or as pretty as Hiroyuki Utatane’s or Tenjiku Ronin’s works, but they definitely have their uses other than the obvious.

WARNING: Issue #6 is puke material. If you’ve got a sensitive stomach regarding mutilated body parts, I suggest you lay off this one. Then again, maybe you’d be glad to know that what you might be seeing is actually just a dream.
