============================================ THE LEGEND OF LEGAIA DEFEATING BOSSES GUIDE by Skysenshi http://www.coolay.com ============================================ =========================== I. INTRODUCTION =========================== No, I won't have to make a very elaborate boss guides 'cause I will just discuss those bosses that a lot of people complain (to my unfortunate eyes and ears' expense) about. There are two combos that I use in defeating bosses: 1. Use Spirit 2. Use powerful blows while conserving AP at the same time. To do this use a combo of an art and end with a hyper art. Try not to use a combo filled with hyper arts or rely fully on miracle arts unless you have mettle gems and the mettle goblet with you. This way you still have enough AP and at the same time dish out powerful moves without having to waste a turn on letting it rise to an appropriate degree. Levelling up is one way, but that's the bully's way out, and levelling up in this game is 100 times dragging than in other RPGs. So the best way for you not to lose your interest quickly in this game is to fight effectively, even when you're using weak fighting gears (due to poverty ^_^). =========================== II. THE BOSSES =========================== BERSERKER Location: Jeremi Gardens Before you go disturb this giant venus-fly-trap-looking monster, go search Jeremi's garden for all the treasures you can find. There's a wonder amulet there (which I only found after the battle because I was careless). This amulet prevents any change in status and it will help immunize your character from the most powerful status rot attacks that this monster dishes out. It's advisable to use this amulet on your most powerful character (frustrating in my case because my healer, Noa, is also my most powerful character from start to end--for some insane reason!) XAIN Location: Octam Underground The object of everybody's complaints! Don't get frustrated and go complaining about having to waste time levelling up in order to defeat him. The secret is when "Xain is saving up his energy" you use spirit. NO MATTER IF YOU'VE ALREADY USED SPIRIT THE PREVIOUS TURN, use it again! This way, his most powerful attack will only give half its usual damage. DELILASES Location: Nivora Ravine All the Delilases have a quite obvious pattern in battle. They'll just do regular attacks on the first two turns and on the third turn they will use their super attacks. The most important thing to remember here is to make sure that all your characters are faster than their counterparts. Use speed rings on those whom you think are too slow, yeah even with Noa. In my experience, my Noa was slower than Lu Delilas, which was why I found Lu more difficult than Che. With Che I didn't even break a sweat, even without a miracle art, but with Lu I had to restart my game. As for Gi Delilas, just equip Vahn with something that can resist fire-elemental attacks. Or better yet, I have a hunch that the two other Delilases have the same elements as Noa and Gala, so to play it safe you can probably equip Noa with a water-resistant accessory, and Gala with a thunder- resistant accessory. No matter what you do on your first and second turn, you must use spirit on the third turn so the super attacks don't do much damage (unless you're powerful enough to withstand the damage). You can use miracle arts, since after their super attacks, your AP will definitely rise to perfection. Or if you don't have miracle arts, use the arts-hyper arts combo to conserve AP and still deal powerful damage. KORU Location: Nivora Ravine after defeating the Delilases After you defeat the Delilases, save your game and then go look for some enemies to smash. Why? Because based on my Parasite Eve experience, my Parasite Energy went down after that battle with that giant cockroach/termite and I had to recuperate by looking for regular enemies at the Central Park. So in this case, after battling the Delilases, I'm sure your AP is down to a considerably low degree. When you battle regular enemies, you will have the chance to use spirit until your APs reach maximum. Just use regular moves to kill the enemies so you won't have to waste precious AP. When you're ready, save your game again, then go down and meet Koru. If your characters don't have miracle arts, you can probably use the point card. By this time you probably have enough points from all the items you must have bought. Use miracle arts if you have them. But the important thing is to defeat Koru in 4 turns or less or else he'll kill everyone, much like in Xenogears when you get to battle Hammer and he self-destructs. LAPIS Location: Mt. Dhini after your final battle with Songi (Lapis is a Secret Boss) As far as I can remember, Lapis has an element, which is Light. If you don't have the necessary equipments for him--which have to be light-resistant accessories, I suggest that you go back to Octam and buy some light-resistant gems. He is quite tough if you try to battle him with the level I had when I fought him (which is 45). Don't bother with MP accessories as Lapis will drain all your MP to 0, so make sure that you have enough Healing Berries with you. My point card helped, because I never used it before and I had enough points to kill Lapis, but if you want to defeat Lapis without using the point card, I suggest that you fortify all your characters. I never used strength booster items myself, but at least these could help. You can probably equip your Gala with Speed shoes so he can be your healer if he isn't as strong as your Noa. It just so happens that my Noa has the highest damage, even when her strength isn't as much as Gala's and Vahn's, so I didn't want to waste her turn in healing. Mettle gems can help. If you have the mettle goblet, so much the better! Well, that's it for now. The other bosses were wusses so I guess nobody even thought of complaining about them to me. Thank gawd! ^_^ =========================== III. DISCLAIMER =========================== Under no circumstances can the content of this FAQ sheet be copied.
