Naomi taught me how Abizboah can be recruited (since I had Sigfried), and Jov chose Valeria over Kasumi (I wish I had chosen Valeria over Kasumi too ;_;). Also, if any of you people attempt to copy this guide, which took me all 35 hours of my game time to accomplish (hey, taking down notes while playing is an absolute bother y'know!), I'll have my entire clan breathing down your neck. [v. 1.0 January 17, 2000] I'm trying to make this guide as easy as possible, so I placed the characters in the order that you can get them. I've also alphabetically arranged them, so you can look up the things you need to do to recruit the characters. TIPS IN RECRUITING CHARACTERS ================================================ 1. When you are given an option, always choose the best answer. Try to avoid choosing war-freak answers, especially on the last parts. Remember, your choices directly affect the outcome of the game. 2. You'll know a character can be recruited when you see a picture on top of that character's dialogue box. Other major characters have pictures on top of their dialogue boxes, too, though. 3. When visiting a new store, make it a point to check out their Rare Finds list. It saved me a lot of time. 4. In your "spare time" revisit places you've been to before, especially those that look suspicious (Paths in mountains that go nowhere, caves where traces of people can be found etc). 5. Always visit Templton to know what places you haven't been to yet. And when you're in a particular area, make it a point to check out the dots (places) that you haven't explored. 6. If any of your characters DIE in a major battle, RESET! You can't afford to let anyone die. 7. The most important thing: Use your head. ================================================ II. 108 STARS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER ================================================ In-between numbers, I have inserted comments that contain pre-requisites for a certain character. There are characters that you can only get at the middle or last part of the game, but there are some things you need to do early on. 1. Hero 2. Gengen ** When you attempt to go to Kyaro later, go to Ryube first and add Eilie, Rina, and Bolgan to your party. 3. Mukumuku 4. Nanami 5. Rikimaru 6. Millie 7. Kinnison 8. Shiro 9. Zamza 10. Hanna 11. Apple 12. Viktor 13. Flik 14. Tsai ** As soon as you enter Muse, make sure that you pass by one alley at the rightmost area of the village (near the Rune store) where a girl named Elza (really pretty girl that's impossible to miss) will give you a package. Along that corridor, after the girl leaves, you will bump into Clive. He'll go looking for Elza. Before you leave Muse, Clive and Elza will show up and almost have a shoot out. Vincent NOTE: This is the order that I got the 108 stars. I believe the order you can get them may vary, (as I've seen in my sister's game), but the important thing is that you get to do the pre-requisites. You can even get the other characters earlier than I got them. I was able to recruit 106 stars before the final Muse battle, and I got the last missing star right after that particular battle. ================================================ III. 108 STARS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER ================================================ Here's a record of how you can get your characters. If you're not too sure, or you don't trust me, you can hire Richmond to investigate unrecruited stars. I will try to remove the spoilers here. A ABIZBOAH - If you had not met Sigfried, go into the mines near Crom with the Badeaux's crystal equipped. There's a big body of water there that has a ledge, stand on that ledge. ADLAI - He's in South Window. He'll ask you to do lots of stuff. You need: Sacrificial Jizo, Wooden Shield, and Wind Crystal (You can get all of these in South Window). He's an annoying old dude. So when he asks for the Sacrificial Jizo the second time around, throw it at him. He'll join you then. ALBERTO - He's in Tinto, in one of the stores, and will join you only if you have both Pico and Annallee. ALEX - Joins with Hilda. AMADA - In Radat, challenge him to a duel (the 2nd time around). He's softer than cheesecake, I tell ya! ANNALLEE - In South Window, go to the inn. She'll be shooed out of there. Find her near Granmeyer's house at the farthest right (upper portion) of South Winow. Ask her to sing twice. ANITA - Look for her in Muse's inn after you finish talking with Jess. Or you can go to her after you've gotten Tuta. She can also be found in Banner Village later. APPLE - Joins you automatically in Toto. AYDA - Fight the birds to protect Feather. You must have met Badeaux, and he must have given you two crystals. B BADEAUX - The first time I met him with Shiro in my party, he didn't do anything. Just said "......." The next time, I brought both Mukumuku and Shiro (since Richmond says he likes beasts, I took all the beasts I had into my party). He's in the Forest Path to Matilda. BARBARA - She'll find you, don't worry. Frankly, I like Rock from Suikoden 1 better 'cause Rock replenishes your Medicine and his vault has no limits. BOB - Recruit this arrogant man in Kobold area in Two River City as soon as you have gathered at least 80 stars. BOLGAN - Find him in the inn at Coronet after being shooed by the people guarding the boats. C CAMUS - He'll just join up. CHACO - Another annoying brat. Unfortunately, he'll automatically join you. CLIVE - You must have met him and Elza in Muse earlier. You'll find him in South Window again. If you offer him a ride to Lakewest, he'll join you. CONNELL - Bring a sound set to him in Forest Village. E EILIE - Find her in the inn at Coronet after being shooed by the people guarding the boats. EMILIA - She's the cute sort-of receptionist at the Academy. Ask her about Shin, and tell her who you really are. When you get back to your castle after the quest you'll find her in the library with Templton. F FEATHER - Fight the birds to protect Feather. You must have met Badeaux, and he must have given you two crystals. FITCHER - Annoying dude, but you really have no choice. He'll join you whether you want him or not. FLIK - You don't have a choice, he will join you. FREED Y - Don't worry, he'll just join you. FUTCH - You can meet him in Highway Village, and agree to support him and Humphrey on a quest. G GABOCHA - Talk to him with Gengen in your party. He's in the Kobold area of Two River City. GADGET - He will join with Meg. GANTETSU - He's always at South Window, but you can only recruit him after the Neclord quest. Beat him in a pushing contest. Tip: Make sure you have the strongest people in your party. GENGEN - He joins you on a quick expedition at the beginning of the game. He's in your battling party list forever after that. GENSHU - He's in Coronet. You must have at least a level 13 or 14 weapon. In my case, I had McDohl in my party and his weapon is at level 14, so I'm not sure if it was his weapon or my Hero's level 13 weapon that triggered Genshu's approval. Castle should also be at the largest size it could get. GEORG - Talk to him in the Mountains between Tigermouth and Drakemouth after the Neclord quest. GIJIMU - Will join automatically. GILBERT - He's one of the mercenaries that you will encounter in the major battle at Muse. Flik knows him. Find Gilbert's unit during the battle and make sure you damage it (damage it, don't massacre it). GORDON - Remember to talk to him on your first visit to Gregminster (just to save time), then you can start trading until you gain 50,000 profit. Or you can do it MY way (which I think is easier). Anyways, here's how it went: Go to Forest Village and buy all the Wide Urns you can buy. Then go to Crom Village and sell all the Wide Urns. After that you can go back to Gregminster and recruit Gordon. I think the trading posts' prices vary. At the time I did this quest the Wide Urns in Forest Village cost about 3,000+ and would sell in Crom at about 20,000+ Now that would give you a lot of profit! The easiest way to trade is to first talk to Templton and see where the trading posts are located. Then check out each trading post to see their prices. Then you can compare. To know if you've earned a profit, take note of the money you had before buying an item from a Trading Post. Then, after selling those items, check if the money you have now is more than when you first bought the items. H HAI YO - He'll be in the castle, at the second floor. Go through the right door from the central room. Eventually, you'll end up in an empty room with four doors (you'll know there are doors when you see light coming through them) at the bottom area of the screen. Go through any of those doors. Hai Yo will beg you to give him a chance to be army chef. HANS - He's in an inn at Two River City. If you're a greedy type of person you can let him look for 300,000 potch in exchange for recruiting him. I had too much money already so I decided to not charge him. HAUSER - Will automatically join. HERO - You have him, duh?? HANNA - You can talk to her in Toto when you meet Pilika and family. Then, after doing Pilika's request, return to Toto and talk to Hanna again. HILDA - After your escapade at North Window, talk to her. HIX - You'll first meet him and Tengaar in Lakewest. Follow them to Kobold Village (not Kobold Area of Two River City) and do their subquest. HOI - He's in a tavern at Radat. Pretend to go along with his ruse and he'll join you. HUAN - You'll first meet him in Muse (if you find Tuta). He'll join automatically when you need him most. HUMPHREY - He wasn't the handsome type in Suikoden 1, but in Suikoden 2 he definitely lost any remnants of appeal. Sheesh! Anyways, you can meet him in Highway Village, and agree to support him and Futch on a quest. J JEANNE - You'll first meet her in Greenhill (she's one of the teachers there). After the Greenhill quest, go to Two River City, and talk her into joining. She seems more uh...healthier now than in Suikoden 1. She's still specializing in Runes. JESS - Ask him to join after Hauser joins. JUDE - He's in Greenhill, in the Blacksmith Room at the Academy. He'll ask for clay. Go to Forest Village, there's a sort of secret screen at the right side of the village that leads upward to the Elder's House. There's a guy there that sells clay. Bring the clay to Jude and he will join. K KAHN - He'll meet you in Crom. He'll just join. KAREN - She's in the inn/tavern at Kuskus. Dance with her. KASUMI - In Gregminster (ah nothing has changed!), Lepant will ask you to choose somebody who will support you. If you chose Kasumi, you won't get Valeria. KIBA - You can talk to him at the castle, after a major battle. KILLEY - Talk to him in South Window (near the trading post), and tell him about Alex. Then go back to the Castle and talk to Alex. Killey will come, but he will return to South Window. Go back to South Window and ask him to join. KINNISON - When entering Rybe forest (while looking for Millie's pet), trace the left- most path until you find a bird nest that has fallen from a tree. Put the nest back up the tree. Explore the rest of the path for a while, and then return to where you found the fallen bird's nest. Kinnison should be there. He'll join you if you told him that you helped the baby bird. KLAUS - He'll join with Kiba. KOYU - Will automatically join. He will be at the Castle. L L.C. CHAN - Have Wakaba in your party when you are in Crom Village. Look for him in the inn and follow where he goes. He will join you then. You first meet him at Rockaxe, though. LEBRANTE - Show him a Celadon Urn and he'll join. If you don't have one, you can buy it in Gregminster's Trading Post. LEONA - As if you have a choice! She's been in your team since the beginning. She'll just disappear once in a while, but she'll be with you permanently (you'll know when). LO WEN - Will join automatically. LORELAI - Will join only if you have Killey, and if the Castle has about 5 floors. She's in Gregminster. LUC - Sassy brat! Anyway, just like in Suikoden 1, he has no choice but to join you. M MARLOWE - Will join automatically. MAX - I thought he was supposed to have retired in Suikoden 1?? If you visit South Window he'll accost you. MAZUS - Find him in the caves near Crom. He's fairly easier to find than his rival Crowley (who was one of the stars in Suikoden 1). Must have more than 100 recruits. MEG - If you have Viki in the castle, it's easier to teleport to the Muse/Greenhill border. You'll find Meg there. MIKLOTOV - He'll just join. MILLIE - Talk to her in Ryube, and help look for her pet Bonaparte. MONDO - He will join you if Kasumi is in your party. If not, talk to him when your Castle is at its biggest form. Mondo is a ninja living in Rokkaku. It's a hidden village that can be found accidentally--OR NOT. From Gregminster, after the Journeyman Crystal, keep left and keep at the lowest portion of the screen. Search the trees and you'll eventually find a secret path. This secret path is closer to the ladders in the middle of the forest, though. Just keep searching the lowest portion of the screen where there are trees. It's around 2 or 3 screens (left) away from the save point. MUKUMUKU - The easiest way to look for him is when you are at Kyaro. Before going inside your house to meet Nanami, examine the largest/fattest tree to the North of your house. He has strong attacks, but his defense is kinda low since you can't equip anything on him. Another way of looking for him is by travelling alone along Muse and Greenhill. N NANAMI - Permanently part of your entourage, as soon as you visit her in Kyaro. NINA - Gad, I hate this girl!!! Unfortunately, she'll wriggle her way into your army. O OULAN - Go to Kuskus with only women in your party. Go one screen to the left of the inn and you'll come across weird thugs. You'll meet Oulan then. In my second game, though, it seems she took a while to appear. If you bring along women with high luck (like Meg), you have better chances of finding her. P PESMERGA - He'll be at the last room of the Cave of Winds when you have at least 100 recruits. PICO - He's in Greenhill and will only join if Annallee is already at the Castle. R RAURA - You will find her in Tinto and will join if Jeanne has already joined. RICHMOND - Very useful dude. I wouldn't have completed all 108 stars IN TIME without him! He's in Radat. He's going to ask you to bet heads or tails. You'll obviously lose (he's cheating). Go to the tavern and you'll meet a man who'll tell you Richmond's secret (he'll also give you a coin). Go to Richmond again and take his bet, this time offer to use the coin you got. RIDLEY - Will automatically join. RIKIMARU - After you leave Kyaro, you will find him unconscious beside an inn in Ryube. Bring him to the tavern and pay for what he owes. You need 3000 potch. RINA - Find her in the inn at Coronet after being shooed by the people guarding the boats. S SASUKE - He will join you if Kasumi is in your party. If not, talk to him when your Castle is at its biggest form. Sasuke is a ninja living in Rokkaku. To find Rokkaku, the hidden village, see MONDO. Make sure that when Mondo joins the party, don't remove Kasumi, or Sasuke will not join. SHEENA - Still as rakish as ever! You'll first see him in Coronet. But he'll join you in Gregminster. SHILO - He's in Lakewest. Win 5000 potch from him in a game of dice. He's sort of like Gaspar in Suikoden 1, except I like Gaspar better (better luck, better gambling limit). SHIN - Will automatically join with Teresa. SHIRO - Joins with Kinnison. SHU - *_* My type of guy! (handsome, intelligent, and has a strong personality!) Anyway, he'll join you and he has no choice because the story says so. If you find you're stuck somewhere in Radat and he keeps declining to help you, ask Richmond to help you out. SID - Talk to him in a secret chamber in the sewers with Chaco in your party. The secret chamber can be found beneath the waterfall-like area of the sewers. He isn't as hard to find as Crowley in Suikoden 1. SIERRA - Will just join. She's in Tigermouth Village. SIGFRIED - He's the unicorn you met during the Hix & Tengaar subquest. You will find him at the center of the Kobold Forest (still where you first met him). You must have met Badeaux, and you must have the crystals that Badeaux has. SIMONE - He's in the docks at Radat. He will tell you he lost his Rose Brooch. It's in Banner Village's rare items. Give it to him. STALLION - It would be good to talk to him right after the Two River City quest. He will challenge you to a race then. You probably won't win, so he'll tell you to practice 50 times more. During this time you can go around looking for other recruits (Hix, Tengaar, Gabocha, Sid, etc.), and, while you're doing that, of course you'll meet enemies along the way. Run away from enemies or let go around 50 times. After that you can go back to Stallion. This time, he'll join you. He's in Radat, btw. T TAI HO - Same way you got him in Suikoden 1. Beat him at the dice game. He'll be in Kuskus as soon as you are required by your army to get somebody who knows boats. For some reason, it was easier for me to win after I got Amada. But before I got Amada, he keeps winning. Oh, before I forget, you have to win 5000 potch from him. TAKI - She's just like Onil in Suikoden 1, except she's less annoying and is a lot more useful when you're stuck in the game. Talk to her again and again until she decides to join you. She's in Lakewest. TEMPLTON - That's not a typo error. Sui2 really spells it as Templton. Anyway, as soon as you get to Radat, go to the rightmost area of Radat (where all the boats are located), cross the bridge, and get out (at the rightmost exit) and you'll find yourself back in the area where the Mercenary Fortress is. Go inside the Mercenary Fortress and you'll see Templton. Then after meeting him there, go to Toto. He'll join you there. TENGAAR - You'll first meet her and Hix in Lakewest. Follow them to Kobold Village (not Kobold Area of Two River City) and do their subquest. TENKOU - You must have a window set when you talk to him in Crom. TERESA - Will automatically join. TESSAI - Talk to him with Viktor in your party (Viktor must have gotten the Star Dragon Sword). TETSU - Eat Fried Tacos until you see smoke come out of the Hero's face, then talk to Tetsu. Fried Tacos can be bought at the Kobold Area of Two River City. If you wanna save time and don't want to go to Kobold District, you can have Hai Yo prepare a meal for you that causes Toasty. TOMO - At the Castle, talk to Tsai, and he will ask you to do an errand for him back at his cabin in Ryube Forest. You will meet Tomo there. TONY - You'll meet him in Forest Village. Tell him that he can have a garden at the castle. TSAI - Look for him in Ryube Forest (he has a cabin there). He will only be there when Flik and Viktor asks you to find him. TUTA - In Muse. As soon as Jess is finished talking to you, look for Tuta near Muse's entrance. V VALERIA - In Gregminster (ah remember those good ol' days!), Lepant will ask you to choose somebody who will support you. If you chose Valeria, you won't get Kasumi. VIKI - She's still as clueless as when she was in Suikoden 1. You'll meet her at the the Forest Path going to Matilda. This girl is absolutely important! VIKTOR - As if you have a choice, duh! He'll just join you. VINCENT - Talk to him in Radat with Simone in your party, after the final attack in Muse. W WAKABA - Show her you fighting skills (your form). She's in Forest Village. y YAM KOO - In Kuskus. Will join you when Tai Ho joins. YOSINO - After Shu joins you, talk to her with Freed Y in your party. She's in Radat. YUZU - She's in Kobold Village, whining about her lost sheep. Help her out. Z ZAMZA - Talk to him in Toto with Nanami in your party.
