What the heck happened??
I saw Countdown Continued right after watching Countdown,
and sad to say, I was greatly disappointed. The funny atmosphere
of the first Countdown was gone and was replaced by overly
dramatic scenes. I'm talking more about Virgin Road.
Basically, it had the same charcters as the previous volume's
Alimony Hunter, except there was a total change in
their personalities. Of course, they're still the horniest
bunch ever, but this time they're all so horribly serious
and depressed. Akemi, the bride-to-be, is just a bit of an
air-head, much like the heroines of your regular h-anime.
She doesn't have the kind of spunk that could rescue the show.
Thank gawd for Jun, at least. The wicked little seductress
still has the magic she once held in Countdown's Alimony
Hunter. Perhaps, she is the only one in this presentation
who actually has a personality. Other than her presence, everything
else in Virgin Road is...bleh.
As for the second episode...For the life of me, I can't even
remember what it was all about. I guess it's supposed to be
funny, but under the circumstances, I just can't bring myself
to laugh. If you saw Countdown and you want to find out what
the second volume is all about, by all means buy it. However,
if you like the first one, I must warn you that watching Part
2 might well destroy your enjoyment of the first.

A step up from the last one...but not a big one
Just like Countdown,
I liked Countdown Continued as well. I even thought it was
a little better, but again with little plot detail. Virgin
Road, in my humble opinion, is the best out of all 4 episodes
between Countdown and Countdown Continued. If the plot was
elaborated more then this would have been better than just
another Hentai flick. Its sort of a Continuation from Alimony
Hunter, but not really detailed. The main character, Akemi,
is marrying Kunhiko (the boy from Alimony Hunter who had an
'experience' with Jun and his stepmom Chizuru ^_^). Kunhiko
doesn't seem to be too happy about the wedding, for reasons
that are never explained. Akemi's dad doesn't seem happy either
by when she approaches him and he just leaves. Then Jun shows
up and things get all sorts of confusing when we see that
not only does Kunhiko know her 'well', but so does Akemi.
The rest is textbook...Akemi and Jun get friendly before the
wedding and then Akemi and Kunhiko get married! The setting
is a bit depressing, with neither looking too happy.
Famous Trick History Hooligan Boy is just all kinds
of weird. It sorta starts out reminding you of Rurouni
Kenshin (especially since the main character resembles
Kaoru) if you've seen it. A boy with a big robot is trying
to take over some sort of town which is called EDO (the Edo
dynasty?) and is kidnapping all these girls in the process.
The main character is the leader of some sort of clan and
her lover, Kadae, is captured by this 'Hooligan boy'. The
main character, whose name I just cant remember, goes and
tries to save her, getting caught in the process. Then her,
the boy, and Kadae all get friendly together. Confusing? You
bet it is! But its also not that bad. Just plot lacking if
you will. But these two seem a bit more thick in plot compared
to the first two, which doesn't say much. All in all you could
pass up both Countdown and Countdown Continued, but why
would you want to?
Henta Neko's Note: Edo is actually Tokyo's old
name.
