{{ Final Fantasy IX }}

Sorrow: How do you prove that you exist...? Maybe we don't exist...

Despair: To be forgotten is worse than death...

Final Fantasy 7 was actually a favorite RPG. So is Final Fantasy 8.

When I first saw Final Fantasy 9, I was taken aback with how primitive this game suddenly looked like.

Compared to FF7 and FF8, the regular appearance of the characters of this latest product make you think like you must have been thrown back to the FF6 days.

Here is the deal, though. Zidane has a loveable personality. You will just have to learn to get used to his looking like a chimpanzee (and that was even before you'd see his tail).

Compared to Cloud, who has some major confusion problems, and Squall, who definitely has a major attitude problem that even his good looks won't let you forget, Zidane is someone refreshing you can easily relate to.

The battle system has a bit of the "old school" RPG taste to it, somewhat like FF6. The game, which is highly skill-based, with abilities that are inherited from wearing certain equipment, is less complicated than FF8, so beginners would definitely love this one. FF7's Limit Break also returns, because the Trance Mode, which is what they call limit breaks in FF9, does not wait for you to get to yellow status before you can do some major butt-kicking (like in FF8), but instead builds up on the number of damage points you've received.

The FMV sequences will remind you of those FF Anthology days. Even the music is much like FF6. So what does this game have that makes it as unique as other Final Fantasy series? Buy the game to find out.
