Your character is Maya Amano, a reporter for a teen magazine know as Kismet Publications.
Your otherwise normal life begins to go haywire when a notorious serial killer who calls himself Joker suddenly sends you a message telling you that you are next.
As if the situation isn't already grave enough, your boss sends you out on a mission to investigate a school where a student has reportedly been found dead. Thus, your nightmare begins...
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment may not be just your usual CG-anime-based game with spectacular sounds and equally spectacular plot. While, its battle system is turn-based like old school RPGs, you will find that there is a bit of strategy involved. Each monster has its own weaknesses that you must discover for yourself. On top of that, not every encounter will trigger a battle sequence. You can talk to monsters instead of fighting them to gain tarot cards. On some occasions, when a monster likes you, it might even give you rare items or strike a contract with you!
The gaining of tarot cards in order to summon new Personas for your characters is the central theme of Persona 2. Personas are the alter egos of your party members, and these alter-egos can be summoned during battle. These concepts will make you look forward to every battle, especially if you're one who wants to veer away from the usual walk-encounter-fight scenario.
Another notable feature of this game is the fact that you can save anytime, anywhere. That is only the beginning, however, because you will have to find out for yourself if this game is worth your time or not.
