Cover Description:
Is this the end of Tenchi?! Japan has announced that this 35mm full length movie will probably be the last production involving Tenchi Muyo! Tenchi fans everywhere will appreciate the production quality and beautiful animation of this farewell feature. In the story, Tenchi storms off into the hills after a fight, but doesn't return. After searching for some time, Ayeka and Ryoko finally discover Tenchi seduced by a mysterious woman!

There's something different! >>> by skysenshi
Just when you thought the Tenchi Muyo series had reached their most juvenile, most irritating limit, they up and surprise you with this nice little package.

This is the most character-driven Tenchi movie I have ever seen. There is more focus to the depth of the characters as well as to the storyline. There is maturity, a distinguishing insight to the emotional entanglements that Tenchi, Ayeka, and Ryoko are experiencing. For some reason, Tenchi has gone beyond the teenage melodrama of your usual crazy love triangle to a different dimension altogether. It's like a journey from childhood to adulthood.

The little boost is done by none other than the villainess Haruna. Or is she really a villainess? Simple observation can reveal that Haruna is an agonized soul whose existence isn't controlled by a wish to seek retribution for her forgotten love. She haunts two main people: Tenchi and Yosho. Tenchi of the present, and Yosho of the past. The struggle here is interplayed between two men and reflected by the two women who love Tenchi most: Ayeka and Ryoko. The resolution? Well, let's just say it's a fitting ending that isn't hampered by selfishness or personal illusions.

Side Note: This is where Tenchi finally got lucky (and the only title where I actually thought Tenchi looked cute).

Individual Rating: Art/Animation 8; Story 9; Characters 9; Sounds 9
